Appreciation for Caricature Illustration

Caricature: a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the essence of a person or thing to create an easily-identifiable visual likeness.

For many years I’ve been intrigued by the art and craft of celebrity caricatures. Whenever I seem to doodle or sketch, my subject of choice seems to always be cartoon-like faces. Maybe caricature’s the next step for me? There’s a certain allure in caricatures where key features are exaggerated to great lengths. I have never really tried my hand at this type of skilled illustration. Perhaps, someday soon.

Over a few years I’ve discovered many talented commercial artists that practice this art form – of special note, Anthony Geoffroy. Samples of his work are displayed below. Still want more after viewing Tony’s work and his website? Try http://www.caricature.org/.
